Community Highlights: Irwin Borough’s New Appointments and Upcoming Events

    Irwin Appointments

Irwin Borough has infused its Parks and Recreation Board with new energy, appointing three members to enhance community engagement in local recreational activities. Among the appointees are two familiar faces from the council: Fonda Dalbow and Amanda Morrison. Their terms commenced this month and will extend until December 31, 2031.

Fonda Dalbow, a former council member who recently vied for a full four-year term in the November election, brings a wealth of experience to the board. Amanda Morrison, also a former council member who did not run for reelection last year, joins her in fostering parks and recreation initiatives. The third member, Kristy Warren Slivka, wife of Councilman John Slivka, will also contribute her insights and energy to the board.

In related actions from the council, Councilman Nick Powanda has taken Morrison’s place on the Fire Department Committee, ensuring continuity in community safety efforts. Furthermore, Powanda, alongside Councilman Tyler Baum, has joined the America 250th Committee, which aims to celebrate and engage the community in Pennsylvania’s history. Dalbow and former council member Mike Pochan, along with resident Eric Shearer, round out this committee, all focused on planning meaningful events leading up to the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Dalbow additionally returns to the Zoning Hearing Board, where she will serve until December 31, 2027. She brings back institutional knowledge after resigning from the board in July when she was appointed to fill the remainder of Ron Romeo’s term on the council.
